2008 Spring Reunion Information
April 26th in Olympia, WA

March 2, 2008

You might have heard – District 12 of the Wing Family of America, Inc. – is going to host the 2009 Wing Family of America National Reunion at Seaside, Oregon.

District 12 has Wing Cousins from Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska (except there doesn’t seem to be any living there just now). Our District 12 Director, Nancy Myers, has done a great job of getting this started, but now we need you to help us see it through.

As you might expect, we really need your support. We want to show the Eastern Wings just what they are missing by living on the other side of real mountains. Reunion essentials are already underway, thanks to members of the core group. A hotel is on hold for us; plans are developing of how to entertain the people who descend from the sons of John and Deborah Wing – just as we do.

We hope to entice at least 300 cousins – and that’s a lot of cousins – for this huge family reunion in June 19-21, 2009. That’s why we are hoping that you will join us. District 12 Wings have been getting together for an annual reunion for the past five years. Strong friendships have grown in that time – and we would really like to add you to this special group of cousins/friends.

The 2008 District 12 Reunion will be Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Prosperity Grange #315 located at 3701 Steamboat Island Rd. NW Olympia, WA 98502.  It will be hosted by Daryl and Jessie (Wing) Duerr who live across the street at 6325 Sunrise Beach Rd NW, Olympia, WA 98502.  The doors to the Grange Hall will open at 11:00AM.  A potluck lunch will be at 12:30PM.   Fried chicken, lemonade, coffee and cake will be provided for $8.00/person with children 12 and under free. Cousins are asked to bring a salad or side dish to share.  The reunion will end at 5:00PM, but cousins and guests will be welcome to stay longer and mingle if they so desire.

Be prepared for a great time. Bring your Wing genealogy if you want some help. Bring stories of how you happen to live where you do – did your Wing ancestors “plant” you there?

This is an all age’s reunion!   There will be cousins from 8 years old to 80+ years old.
Everyone will have a great time and so will any new Wings you invite. So get on the phone and invite immediate family members who are also Wing descendants that have yet to become involved.

But, most of all, come prepared to help us get the 2009 Reunion under way.

RSVP to Daryl and Jessie Duerr.  Phone:  (360) 866-8050 or email:  mercmech48@hotmail.com by April 15th.

John Wickham has set up a District 12 Web Site which can be reached at http://wingfamilynw.org Visit the website and get information on this Spring Reunion, the 2009 National Reunion,  and other District 12 information and news.

Here’s hoping to meet you in April – which should be beautiful in Olympia.

Love,
Beverly Smith Vorpahl
